I attended junior high and high school at North Lamar ISD. After graduating from high school I attended Paris Junior College, and then attended East Texas State University for a year before marrying my husband who was in the US Navy at the time. I went back to college after moving to the Bonham area and graduated from Texas A & M – Commerce (formerly ETSU) in 2007.
I received a Bachelors of Science Degree from Texas A & M - Commerce. I have an EC - 4 teaching certificate with a Special Education certification, and I also have my ESL certification. I am a member of the professional organization ATPE. I have had the honor of receiving two awards from Bonham ISD - Bailey Inglish Campus. I received the Teacher of the Month Award November 2012 and Teacher of the Year Award for the 2014-15 school year.
I have attended a variety of conferences, workshops, and professional developement classes. Some of the trainings I have attended are CLASS, Brigance Screening, CLI Engage, Conscious Discipline, Frogstreet Three’s Curriculum, and Apple ConnectEd.
I started teaching at Fannin County Head Start in 2007. I have been with the Bonham school disctrict my entire teaching career.
I teach 3 year olds in the Head Start program at the Bailey Inglish Early Childhood Education Center. We have a very active, fun-filled day of hands-on learning and activities. We have a busy day of learning math, literacy, science, and social studies. We also have center time, music and movement, story time, and outside time. Every moment of the day there is a teachable moment whether we are in the classroom, walking down the hallway, or playing outside.
My husband and I have been married for 39 years and we have two children. Our son Bryce lives in the Plano area and works for Fidelity. Our daughter Erin lives in Anna and is attending University of North Texas in Denton, TX., and will be graduating in December.
We have a little poodle named Copper. He is a stray who found us and has been ours for over 10 years.
We enjoy spending time with our families and friends, working in the yard, and have picked up a new hobby of bike riding for exercise.
When I’m not teaching or preparing activities for school, I love to read and I enjoy gardening and cooking for my family. During my summer breaks I love to find old furniture and give it a new look by painting and distressing it.
